In this second part of the Canadian Vicky Leandros album releases, the 1973 album "The Love In Your Eyes – When Bouzoukis Played". Several songs are the English versions from the German album "Meine Freunde Sind Die Traxfcme", and some earlier songs…

Listen to "Livin’ For Life" , an unusual kind of song from Vicky, a mix of Country and Rock, written by G. Sacher… The album was also released, with a different cover photo, in Japan, South Africa and England…

"…I’m like the rain that falls in summer…"

In 1977 Vicky records the song "A Million Tears" for her English language album "Vicky Leandros", to be released throughout Europe in 1978. The song is a new version of "C’est La Vie Papa", but again with totally new lyrics, and a new production in which especially the beautiful gypsy melody at the beginning of the song stands out. The album is produced by Kim Fowley, who is also responsible for the English lyrics of this song…

A beautiful close-up portrait of Vicky as a poster in German "Bravo" magazine from 1974, and the lyrics to "Du Lasst Mir Meine Welt" from the same magazine…

The Loveliest…

Vickysticker2

In 1972 and after there was extra promotion for earlier Vicky Leandros albums, like this one; "I Am" from 1971, because of Vicky winning the Eurovision Song Contest. In the form of extra ads in newspapers and magazines, and stickers like the one above on albums…

Vickykrant2goed1

The song below is called "You", and is an English version of "Die Sterne Von Pireaus", and is featured on the 1971 album "I Am". The story in the song however is totally different from the German version, but not less beautiful…

Aprxe8s Toi…

"…je ne pourrai plus vivre…"

Vickyaprestoiklgoed

I don’t have to tell anything about Vicky Leandros’ triumph at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest… I remember very vividly the exciting minutes of the voting, even though I was only three years old at that time…

One of the most memorable moments was when Vicky’s father Leo received the award as the writer of the winning song, and him kissing his daughter on stage… Vicky recorded "Aprxe8s Toi" in many different languages, and in the end it would be the best selling single of 1972 world-wide… Here you can listen to three different versions of "Aprxe8s Toi"…

"Aprxe8s Toi" has become a real evergreen over the years, still one of the best-known songs all over the world, and instantly recognisable from the very first note, still a big sing-along during Vicky’s concerts…

Greece… my second homeland… as one of my family-members from long ago was Greek, I have always felt close to this beautiful country. When I first heard the voice and music of Vicky Leandros I imediately felt a connection, strange, perhaps, but I read somewhere that human cells can carry information from family members from ages ago… a nice thought…

Listen to my favourite Vicky Leandros song of all time "Pes Mou Pou Pas", the Greek version of "Wann Sag’ Wann"… You can watch a video of that song on my Dailymotion page or in the typelist on the left, where Vicky performs this song in her wonderful 1971 TV special… You can see where Kate Bush found some of her performance inspiration…

In the meantime I am trying to learn to speak the Greek language, extremely difficult, but every new word I manage to remember and recognize is a great joy… A photo of me on the beautiful island of Kos, june 2006…
